Drew Barrymore, Joaquin Phoenix, Rihanna, Katherine Heigl and others were among those taking home awards at the 34th annual People’s Choice Awards.

Producers made the decision to air the People’s Choice Awards this year as a clips how similar to how an episode of Entertainment Tonight is shown. It went off fairly well as the producers did all they could due to the Hollywood writers strike.

Joaquin Phoenix won the award for Favorite Leading Man stating “I’m speechless without the writers, but in my own special way.”

Reese Withersppon was the Favorite Female Movie Star of the year stating “As you also know, there is a strike with our writers going on. We are nothing without our writers, but we are also nothing without our audience.”

Rihanna won Best R&B Song for Shut Up and Drive while Katherine Heigl of Grey’s Anatomy took home Favorite TV Female Star.
