Brad’s Younger Brother Is Pushing A New Fund For Students

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

Doug Pitt — younger brother of the more well-known Brad Pitt — has announced a new initiative called the “Care to Learn” fund which is all about kids’ health, hunger and hygiene. The new fund is also being supported by the Jolie-Pitt Foundation, a humanitarian fund supported by Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt. From the article,

“Says Doug, ‘The idea was to help kids that show up on a school day with an immediate need. We need to get to them quick, obviously. So we set up this fund to do just that. Last week, we had a kid need clothes and food. And within 20 minutes - from the phone call - counselors, teachers, principals, make a call to the Foundation for Springfield Public Schools. And they’re on it. They now have the funds to address that urgent need.’”

The fund is exclusively setup for the moment to address the needs of Springfield Public Schools only — but we imagine if it takes off there, that more districts will one day participate. For more information, please visit the Care to Learn Fund website.

Brad Pitt scoops from Smithville

Saturday, April 19th, 2008

The Smithville Times is reporting that Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and the fam left town today. I had heard Pitt wouldn’t be done filming until the end of April, so maybe he’s coming back for a couple days.

And MSNBC.com has this juicy squirt of Pitt gossip, which Michael Corcoran debunked a few blog entries down. But see for yourself, for fun:

Pitt wanted 95 percent discount on resort stay

Sean Penn and the Jolie-Pitts all living under the same roof? For a brief time, such thing was a possibility.

PITT PAYS HIS OWN WAY ON TEXAS LOCATION SHOOT

Wednesday, April 9th, 2008

The independently produced Tree of Life , written and directed by Terrence Malick (The New World, The Thin Red Line, Days of Heaven), is being shot in Texas on such a tight budget that the two stars, Sean Penn and Brad Pitt, are being required to pay for their own travel accommodations, MSNBC.co m’s “Scoop” column reported Monday. The column indicated that the film’s production company had arranged to have both Pitt and Penn stay at the same hotel, the Hyatt Lost Pines near Austin, TX, but that “Pitt’s people” balked at the $2,000-a-night tab and initially offered to pay $3,000 for the entire one-month’s stay — a figure that the hotel declined. Pitt and Angelina Jolie opted instead to rent a house near the shooting location, the column said.
